About Us

ONE HEALTH RESEARCH GROUP
UNIVERSITY OF IBADAN

Diseases affecting humans do not occur in isolation. They occur in populations that interact with animals and the environment.  Within a continually shrinking world (exemplified by the rate and spate of spread of Ebola and more recently, COVID-19); an understanding of the epidemiology of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases is imperative for global public health, disease prevention and control.

The solutions to many diseases affecting human health globally require cooperation of human medical doctors, veterinarians, environmental scientists, social scientists, and other allied disciplines. Major innovative breakthroughs in human health are possible using a “One Health” approach to medicine and research.
